Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Spain Farrukh Tursunov met with former President of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) Dr. H.D. Silvia García Polanco, as well as Special Envoy of the Presidency of the Central America Court of Justice for United Nations David Balsa in Madrid.

The parties discussed in detail the prospects for expanding the interparliamentary dialogue between Uzbekistan and the Central American states. The importance of building stable and systemic ties between the legislative bodies of the two regions was emphasized, which will contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and trust.

The initiative to create an expert platform in the Central Asia – Central America format has become one of the key items on the agenda. It is expected that such a format will serve as an effective tool for developing practical cooperation mechanisms, identifying priority areas, and forming a solid institutional framework for further cooperation.

The idea of organizing an interregional forum with the participation of representatives from the executive and legislative branches of government from both regions was put forward as a continuation of the initiative.

Special attention was paid to the creation of a multilateral platform, known as the “bridge hub”, between Uzbekistan and the countries of Central America. This initiative aims to develop regular contacts, share experiences, and implement joint projects in various industries.

The parties expressed interest in jointly implementing green projects and exchanging technology.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to initiate preparatory activities for launching a new interregional cooperation mechanism, with a focus on identifying promising areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
