On the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29), a meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) working group on environmental issues took place in the National Pavilion of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by ECO Secretary General Asad M. Khan, First Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Obidjon Qudratov, and representatives of ECO member states.

At the meeting, the participants presented their reports on the state of the environment and discussed further steps to strengthen regional cooperation in ensuring environmental stability.

During the discussions, specific initiatives were proposed to implement joint environmental projects, including the development of renewable energy sources, combating desertification, rational use of water resources, and conservation of biodiversity.

Special attention was placed on the need to share best practices and technologies and strengthen scientific research on climate change. Representatives of the Member States stressed the importance of strengthening the coordination of efforts through ECO mechanisms to confront environmental challenges more effectively.
