At the invitation of the Uzbekistan delegation, the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Inger Andersen visited the country’s national pavilion, which was presented at COP29 in Baku.

Inger Andersen showed special interest in Uzbekistan pavilion and shared her vivid impressions of her previous visit to Uzbekistan.

During the visit to the national stand, the UN Under-Secretary-General expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for deepening cooperation with UNEP and its structures, in particular, for holding high-level events such as the 21st Session of the UNCCD Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC-21), the 14th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals and the 20th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

Inger Andersen stressed that the Uzbekistan pavilion at the COP 29 exhibition demonstrated the country’s comprehensive approach to addressing sustainable development issues.

The UN Under-Secretary-General was invited to attend the 20th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, to be held in Samarkand from November 24 to December 5, 2025.
