Tashkent City Hokim, Shavkat Umurzakov, received a delegation from Italy led by the Mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo.

The guests highly appreciated the development of Tashkent and stressed the importance of strengthening strategic cooperation in education, business, industry, and other areas. Stefano Lo Russo expressed his willingness to develop interregional cooperation and open up new prospects for mutual cooperation not only with Turin, but also with other Italian cities.

Mr. Umurzakov stressed that thanks to the political will of the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Italy, a reliable foundation has been created for the comprehensive development of bilateral relations. The delegation was informed about Tashkent’s investment opportunities, including the Yangi Avlod Special Industrial Zone, where large international companies are located. Special emphasis was placed on the promising projects, economic and investment indicators.

The parties signed a Letter of Intent between Tashkent and Turin. They expressed willingness to implement joint projects in waste recycling, tourism, energy, and education.
