
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov met with Standard Chartered CEO Saif Malik.
Issues of expanding infrastructure projects, modernizing power grids, implementing initiatives within the framework of public-private partnership programs, and transforming state-owned enterprises were discussed. The parties exchanged views on the development of cooperation with Uzbekistan’s banks and the role of the banking system in financing small and medium-sized businesses and agriculture. Proposals to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, the efficient use of renewable energy sources, the development of a green economy, and the IT sector were considered.
Standard Chartered operates in more than 60 countries, focusing on Asia, Africa, and the Middle East markets. The Bank provides trade-investment, corporate and private banking services, and participates in issuing green bonds and financing environmental projects.
