On November 26, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov met with the delegation of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe led by the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir.

On November 26, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov met with the delegation of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe led by the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the Asian Forum for Human Rights on the “Results of 70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: time challenges and reality”, held on November 22-23 in Samarkand.

At the event, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission M.Abdusalomov expressed gratitude to the guests for their participation in the Asian Forum on Human Rights and active participation of this international organization among the observers at the elections in Uzbekistan since 1999.

At the meeting, it was noted that in order to hold open and free elections in the country in accordance with democratic principles and international standards, in the process of further improving electoral legislation, the proposals and recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights are thoroughly studied and taken into account.

Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir highly appreciated the great attention paid in the country to further improvement of the electoral system, in particular the implementation of tasks stipulated in the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Oliy Majlis on development of the draft Electoral Code.

During the dialogue, the parties exchanged views on consistent continuation and strengthening mutually beneficial relations.
