Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova met with Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.

The guest was informed about the main activities of the Ombudsman.

Joint projects with the Ombudsman and the Representative Office of the United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan were discussed at the meeting.

Akiko Fujii noted the need to strengthen cooperation in ensuring youths’ rights, organizing projects and special courses for young people who have served their sentences and been released, based on the fact that everyone has the right to get a second chance and start a new life.

The guest also expressed interest in continuing cooperation with the Ombudsman Institute and noted the importance of work to prevent crime among young people.
