The Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov met with the Global Director for Urban, Disaster Risk Management, Resilience and Land at the World Bank Sameh Wahba.

At the meeting, the sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in investments in irrigation, landscape restoration, and air pollution control.

Special attention was paid to the RESILAND project, which aimed at combating land degradation, desertification, and climate change in Central Asia. This project is being implemented as part of the World Bank’s strategy for sustainable development and protecting the region’s ecosystems.

Sameh Wahba presented to the Minister the report of the World Bank –“Air Quality Assessment for Tashkent and the Roadmap for Air Quality Management Improvement in Uzbekistan”, developed jointly with the Ministry’s specialists. The World Bank also proposed strengthening cooperation in air quality monitoring and improvement.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed hope for the successful implementation of joint projects to restore degraded landscapes and develop ecotourism. An agreement was reached on further cooperation in atmospheric air monitoring and environmental protection.

Cooperation in air quality monitoring and improvement
