On March 3-4, a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Akmalkhuja Mavlonov, Chairman of the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, visited Malaysia.

During the visit, delegation members got acquainted with Malaysia’s customs service operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, land border crossings, and seaports.

The delegation received detailed information on customs control procedures for cargo, passengers, and personal belongings entering and leaving the country. They also examined the digitalization efforts in customs operations and the implementation of the smart customs concept and observed various customs processes.

During extended negotiations with Anis Rizana Zainudin, Head of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, and senior officials of the agency, the Uzbekistan delegation provided insights into the ongoing customs service reforms in Uzbekistan.

Following the discussions, an agreement was reached on several key areas of cooperation, including establishing close ties between the Royal Malaysian Customs Academy and the Customs Institute of Uzbekistan, experience exchange between the customs services of both countries, strengthening the legal framework for cooperation, advancing customs service digitalization, training and capacity building for customs personnel, further developing collaboration in canine services.
