The delegation of Uzbekistan is participating in a training program for mayors of cities in Türkiye.

On February 11, the Chairman of the “Yuksalish” Movement and Chairman of the Committee on Entrepreneurship, Competition Development, and Industry of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Bobur Bekmurodov, met with the Mayor of Selçuklu (Türkiye), Ahmet Pekyatırmacı. They discussed prospects for cooperation.

In particular, they addressed pressing issues related to improving the quality of municipal services and developing mutually beneficial partnerships.

Previously, a cooperation protocol was signed between Samarkand and Konya, recognizing them as twin cities.

The agenda for February 11 included a series of meetings in Selçuklu, one of the central districts of Konya. This district hosts government institutions, universities, and business centers. Moreover, it plays a crucial role in industry, particularly in furniture manufacturing, textiles, and agricultural production.

As part of the event, a presentation was given on the efficiency and productivity of municipal services. The host side focused on modern urban management methods, service digitalization, infrastructure improvements, and enhancing citizens’ quality of life.

“We see great potential for cooperation in various fields. It is important not only to exchange experiences but also to develop joint initiatives aimed at the sustainable development of our regions”, Bobur Bekmurodov noted.

Additionally, negotiations were held with business community representatives and leadership on the same day. The discussions placed special emphasis on trade and economic cooperation, investment collaboration, and the development of cultural ties.

“It was a very productive meeting in terms of strengthening cooperation between our cities, developing joint projects, and exchanging advanced experiences. I would like to thank our guests for this significant visit, which further strengthens our bonds of brotherhood and friendship, and I hope that our cooperation will continue to expand”, the Mayor of Selçuklu, Ahmet Pekyatırmacı, said.

As part of the visit, the delegation from Uzbekistan toured key sites and familiarized themselves with initiatives aimed at sustainable development and improving the quality of life in urban areas.

Additionally, using Selçuklu’s experience as an example, participants of the internship program learned about the implementation of efficient waste recycling technologies and the use of renewable energy sources, which, in the long term, will significantly reduce the environmental burden. Furthermore, in the Karatay municipality, an affordable housing program has been launched, and a presentation of this project was also included.

The delegation from Uzbekistan visited the Beyhekim Center for Development and Technology, where staff presented modern solutions for urban environments. At the Selçuklu Municipality Academy of Arts, the guests were introduced to educational programs, exhibitions, and master classes that significantly preserve cultural heritage and support the arts.

The discussion of initiatives provided valuable experience in technological, environmental, cultural, and social development and facilitated the exchange of knowledge and best practices among specialists.
