Tashkent city Hokim Shavkat Umurzakov met with the Director of Large Corporates and International at UK Export Finance and Co-Head of Business Group, Edward Prince, in Tashkent.

At the meeting, organized to increase recycling, prevent the accumulation of waste in landfills, reduce the negative impact on the environment, and advance the “zero waste” principle within the framework of the circular economy, the parties discussed the reforms being implemented in Tashkent.

It was noted that cooperation between Tashkent and the United Kingdom is based on the firm political will of the heads of Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom, as well as a mutual desire to strengthen bilateral ties, especially in the areas of sustainable development, green economy, and advanced technologies.

The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in construction waste recycling and the introduction of environmental technologies into the waste management system.

The meeting was held as part of implementing consistent measures to fully provide the population with waste-related services, improve their quality to international standards, and increase the industry’s investment attractiveness.
