Several agricultural projects have been implemented in recent years as part of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus. In particular, practical work has begun on growing potato varieties that meet the climatic conditions of Uzbekistan and on developing livestock farming.
After high-level talks on February 8, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko adopted a joint statement.
With the interaction of the two countries, programs for the exchange of experience will be developed, and cooperation between meat processing plants will be established. Various activities are planned to open a wide path for bilateral exports.
The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Bartosh spoke about what projects will be implemented in the future:
– We agreed on agreements to develop cooperation in agriculture. The collaboration envisages production, cultivation, processing, education, and science.
First of all, we focus on the construction of poultry farms. Also, 20 tons of potatoes will be imported to Uzbekistan for testing.
Important areas are the processing of dairy products and growing potatoes. Particular attention is planned to be paid to staff development and exchange of experience. We have adopted an essential document in this area. We will start working on the roadmap soon.
