On April 24, 2025, a regular Joint Meeting of the Governmental Delegations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on the delimitation and demarcation of the Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan State Border was held in Tashkent under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.N. Aripov and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic K.K. Tashiev.

During the negotiations, the Description of the Proposed Line of the Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan State Border was approved, with the Chashma spring being retained within the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. The key terms of the draft Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the joint use of the Chashma spring were agreed upon.

The parties emphasized that the Chashma spring is a shared heritage of the peoples of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. Agreements were reached to ensure that the Kyrgyz side provides free and unhindered access for citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the spring, allows the Uzbek side to use two-thirds of the actual volume of water formed by the spring, and coordinates with the Uzbek side any actions that could affect the volume and quality of the water resources of the spring.

In addition, the parties agreed, in a spirit of friendship and good neighborliness, to refrain from any measures that would hinder the full use of the Chashma spring by citizens of both countries.

The parties agreed to finalize and sign, in the shortest possible time, the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the joint use of the Chashma spring, as well as the Treaty on the Section of the State Border between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

Following the negotiations, the corresponding Protocol was signed.

The meeting was held in a traditionally constructive and friendly atmosphere.
