In connection with Youth Day on June 30, Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva met with young scientists.

The event was attended by senators, members of the Youth Parliament, young scientists, entrepreneurs, startup founders, participants of the “One Million Coders” project, rectors of the Youth Academy and technical universities, deputy hokims responsible for innovation in districts and cities, as well as proactive and engaged youth.

In her address, the Chairperson of the Senate spoke about the state youth policy, the innovative development of the social sphere, support for scientific activities, opportunities being created for young people, and recent legislative developments.

It was noted that in recent years, more than one hundred laws and regulatory acts have been adopted to address youth-related issues. The number of higher education institutions has tripled, and the rate of youth enrollment in higher education has reached 42 percent.

As a result of implementing state financial support for contractual tuition fees for women, the number of female students has increased elevenfold.

More than 1,500 gifted young individuals are currently studying at prestigious universities worldwide. Over the past seven years, with the support of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, 2,300 young people have had the opportunity to pursue education abroad.

The number of young scientists holding academic degrees has doubled, now exceeding 4,000 individuals.

State budget allocations for the development of science and innovation have surpassed 1.5 trillion UZS. Over the past four years, more than 28 specialized institutions have been engaged in financing innovative activities. In accordance with a Presidential Resolution, 28 districts and cities have been transformed into innovation zones.

The Youth Academy was established, bringing together more than 4,200 talented young individuals. Within the framework of the 2022-2026 Innovation Development Strategy, efforts are underway to build innovative infrastructure and create favorable conditions for young professionals to enter the global market.

By 2025, the number of IT park residents exceeded 2,500. The number of startups increased to 260, resulting in $17.9 million in attracted investments.

By 2026, Uzbekistan aims to rank among the top 50 most innovative countries in the world, increase the number of infrastructure facilities to 75, and raise the number of startups to 1,437.

At the meeting, young scientists and proactive youth shared their views on the practical outcomes of state youth policy and its positive impact on their lives, and they proposed new project ideas.

Participants expressed interest in hosting similar events regularly.
