The international chess tournament “Central Asian Chess Cup 2023” with a prize fund of $18 thousand has kicked off in Tashkent. 57 chess players from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are taking part in the tournament.

The opening ceremony, which took place at the International Chess Academy, was attended by the Advisor to the FIDE President Berik Balgabaev and President of FIDE zone 3.4 for the Central Asian countries Husan Turdialiev, who congratulated the participants on the prestigious tournament.

Uzbekistan’s five talented chess players were awarded certificates for participation in the Sharjah Masters 2023 tournament.

The Central Asian Cup will run until January 24.
