The Tashkent House of Photography hosted the Third Republican Exhibition of Calligraphy and Miniatures “Miracle of Magic Feather”, organized by the “Hunarmand” Association and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.
There are more than 28 thousand artisans in the country. Over 200 of them are master calligraphers.
More than 50 craftsmen from all over the country presented over 500 creative works at the exhibition.
“Calligraphy is an Arabic word, which means the art of writing, creating a copy of a book, decorating architectural structures, artistic products”, Aziz Murtazoyev, Advisor to the Chairman of the “Hunarmand” Association, said. – The exhibition aims at promoting and supporting the creativity of calligraphers and miniaturists. Within its framework, a scientific-practical conference “Expression of the art of calligraphy in national handicrafts” was held.
Currently, calligraphy is taught at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, Tashkent Islamic University, National Institute of Fine Arts and Design named after Kamoliddin Bekhzod.
In the East, this type of art is known under the name “khusnikhat”, “hattotlik”, in the West – “calligraphy”. In Uzbekistan, since ancient times, this type of art has been used in architectural and folk arts and crafts.
Another goal of organizing such exhibitions is to provide foreign tourists with information about national handicrafts, promote national crafts and career guidance for young people.
