British Deputy Foreign Minister arrives in Uzbekistan

Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mahmud Istamov provided information on the process of preparation and holding of parliamentary elections in the country, in particular, that the current elections are organized under the slogan “New Uzbekistan – New Elections”.
Sir Alan Duncan expressed a desire to become familiar with the conditions created in Uzbekistan to ensure openness and transparency of the electoral process, equal and free exercise of the right to be elected.
On the same day, Sir Alan Duncan met with the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev. At the meeting, the guest was informed about the current activities of the upper house of parliament.
It was noted that the openness of large-scale transformations in Uzbekistan, the implementation of cooperation with foreign countries and international organizations, reforms aimed at strengthening the economy and further improving the welfare of the population, are important for further development of Uzbekistan.
In turn, Sir Alan Duncan noted that he watches TV shows and reads various news about the elections. The topics covered in them are relevant. He is particularly interested in the activities of political parties, and the election campaigns.
Following the meeting, opinions were expressed on the conditions created for early voting of Uzbekistan citizens abroad.
