International exhibition “Art on the New Silk Road” organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development and the German-Chinese Cultural Exchange Association for Art and Design (DCKD, Germany) together with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, the Fund for Development of Culture and Art at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan within the framework of the international project Blue Container on the New Silk Road on December 12-20, 2018, will mark the beginning of the project.

According to the initiator of Blue Container Guo Jian, the Chairman of DCKD organization, interested in the cultural exchange between Germany and China, their goal is to bring people together through art along the New Silk Road. They are managing it right now in Uzbekistan.

Aziz Abdukhakimov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan supports this initiative: “It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the Silk Road, and people living in the territory of modern Uzbekistan have always been open to dialogue. This contributed to cultural enrichment and numerous trade contacts. Therefore, by reviving and developing deep cultural and economic ties between countries, creating a new impetus for the revival of the Silk Road, we are opening up new opportunities not only for our country, but also for all project participants”.

DCKD and its partners in Uzbekistan expect the same resonance as at the opening ceremony in Duisburg in June 2018. More than 20,000 visitors visited the exhibition in 10 days.

Tashkent will present some elements of the exhibition held in Duisburg.

Before the Blue Container cultural and economic train returns to Germany, it will make stops in Astana (Kazakhstan) and in Beijing (China).

According to the Press Service of the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the way back, the possibility of stopping in Piraeus (Greece) is also considered. Düsseldorf will become the final stop next year.
