Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), Sultan Raev, presented the medal of the “Turkic World Culture Ambassador” to the scientist, Nobel Prize winner, Professor Aziz Sancar during his visit to the United States.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the awarding ceremony took place at the Sancar Turkish Cultural and Community Center, operating under the Aziz and Gwen Sancar Foundation in North Carolina.

Mr. Raev recalled that the decision to award the world-famous scientist was made unanimously by the ministers who are members of the TURKSOY Standing Committee at the 40th meeting in Shusha.

“Aziz Sancar is not just a scientist, but a reflection of the scientific genius of the Turkic world”, says S. Raev. “The Nobel Prize winner has contributed to the development of all mankind. His modesty and hard work are an example for every person”.

Professor Aziz Sancar, for his part, called the title of “Turkic World Culture Ambassador” the most important in his life, even more valuable than his Nobel Prize.

The scientist noted the importance of uniting the efforts of the Turkic states and stressed that the rapprochement in the Turkic world is a consequence of the contribution of the leaders of states and organizations such as TURKSOY.
