Atlas of National Values

The Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment has published the “Atlas of National Values” in Uzbek, Russian, and English. The publication presents the national values and the spiritual and educational heritage of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is an ancient land that has played an essential role in human development. A settled way of life, an agricultural culture, and the moderate climate of the Syrdarya and Amudarya river basins exerted a strong influence on the formation of national thinking and values. The exchange of cultures, as well as spiritual and scientific achievements, strengthened such qualities as openness and humanism.

The publication presents the formation of a scientific and cultural environment in Central Asia through the harmony of the teachings of Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, and Islam. It features that enrich both religious and secular views. The culture of the “Avesta”, ancient Turkic inscriptions, examples of oral folk art, and the legacy of scholars are analyzed as the primary sources of national values. The development of science, culture, and Islamic values during the reign of Amir Temur is highlighted separately. The inseparable connection between the nation and national values, and between the nation and ethnic space, language, historical memory, and gene pool, is revealed. The customs and traditions of the Uzbek people, as well as the moral norms of family and society, are seen as practical reflections of national values.

The publication, issued in a book-album format, reflects historical continuity, succession, and, most importantly, the significance of national values in the development of modern society.
