Aral Tourism Week events have started in Nukus and Muynak district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Currently, several tourism areas are developing rapidly in Karakalpakstan.
Ancient fortresses located in the southern districts of Karakalpakstan, the world-famous State Museum of Art named after I.V. Savitsky in Nukus are the main destinations of the historical and cultural direction, the Aral Sea and the Ustyurt Plateau – ecotourism, products of Chimbay artisans, clearly demonstrating local culture and customs – ethnotourism.
As part of the Week, it is planned to organize an international scientific and practical conference “Goodwill Ambassadors of the Aral Sea”, an art exhibition on the Aral Sea, an eco-marathon and a tree planting campaign, as well as an international gastronomic festival “99 Types of Aral Fish Dishes”.
Among all tourist destinations, gastronomic tourism is of particular importance. Traditional dishes of the Karakalpak people are distinguished by their uniqueness. The “99 Types of Aral Fish Dishes” festival not only promotes national fish dishes, but also introduces local and foreign tourists to other tourist destinations in the region. It has been held since 2017.
Like every region of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Karakalpakstan has special dishes such as “Besbarmak”, “Jugeri Gurtik”, “Aksaulak”, “Turama”, “Maek Borek” and fish dishes “Balik Karma”, “Eel Cutlets”, “Fish Soup”, which delight every visitor with their taste.
The large-scale festival will begin in a unique tourist place in Karakalpakstan – Muynak district and then continue in Nukus and Takhtakupir district.
The Aral Tourism Week will run until April 19.
