At the Eighth International Conference “Hydropower. Central Asia and the Caspian Sea”, specialists, businesspeople, and scientists from Central Asia and the Caspian region discussed the development of the hydropower complex and plans for the future.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Uzbekhydroenergo JSC Vokhidjon Akhmadjonov, Executive Vice President of Gazprombank JSC of Russia Oleg Melnikov, Deputy Director General of the Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC) in Laos Guo Haifeng and others noted the work carried out in hydropower, new innovative technologies in the industry, factors for actively attracting investors and further strengthening cooperation in this direction.

Deputy Head of the Department of Uzbekhydroenergo JSC Nodirbek Akchaboyev delivered a speech on “Strategy for the development of hydropower in Uzbekistan until 2030”.

“The country plans to increase the capacity of hydroelectric power plants to 4999 MW by 2030”, says N. Akchaboyev. “The conference opens up wide opportunities for cooperation in this direction”.

More than 200 experts from different countries are participating in the event. They will give presentations and exchange experiences in transforming renewable energy sources in conditions of regional energy shortages, constructing large and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants, public-private partnerships, and advanced innovations. Such a dialogue is essential in the development of the energy industry, along with the countries of Central Asia and the Caspian region.
