On the eve of the blessed holiday of Eid al-Adha, Ulugbek Kasimov, the Hokim of Surkhandarya region, and Ismatilla Ergashev, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, handed over humanitarian aid consisting of 183 tons of food products to Afghan officials in Hairatan, Balkh province.
The humanitarian cargo includes flour, rice, sugar, mung beans, pasta, red beans, vegetable oil, confectionery, and instant foods. Islam, a religion of peace, enlightenment, kindness, and generosity, has encouraged people to perform good deeds for centuries. This spirit is particularly prominent during Eid al-Adha. On this occasion, it is customary to visit the sick, elderly, and those in need, as well as friends and relatives, offering them gifts.

In recent years, these values have become even more widespread in Uzbekistan, and providing humanitarian aid to neighboring Afghanistan during this sacred holiday brings special joy. Shared customs, traditions, and religion continue to strengthen close brotherly ties.

“Our people are deeply grateful that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in addition to providing humanitarian aid to the long-suffering Afghan nation, is strongly committed to establishing peace and ensuring a prosperous life on this land”, said Nurul Hadi Abu Idris, Deputy Governor of Balkh province. “The International Trade Center, built on the banks of the Amudarya River at the border between our countries, has become another practical expression of this care. All necessary conditions have been created here for representatives of both nations to engage in trade and establish businesses, and for Afghan women and children to receive medical treatment and rehabilitation. This fosters confidence that peace and tranquility will prevail in Afghanistan”.

Officials from the neighboring country expressed deep gratitude to the President and people of Uzbekistan for their assistance and warmly congratulated them on Eid al-Adha.
