The project “Exploring China Together: Immersion into the Culture of Tianjin!”, which brought together journalists from China and Central Asia, began its program with a visit to Tianjin’s Ancient Culture Street – an open-air museum embodying the country’s centuries-old traditions.
Streets lined with restored buildings in classical style, traditional artisan shops, and the aroma of fragrant tea transport visitors to another era. This location annually attracts millions of tourists and admirers of local culture.

Although the street was officially opened in 1986, its history dates back to the 17th century. Spanning more than 600 meters, it was designed and built in accordance with the concept “A Walk, a Sense of Tradition, and a Return to the Chinese Past”.

Participants of the media tour strolled along the ancient street and experienced the magic of traditional Chinese culture firsthand.

During the walk, the guests visited the world-renowned NIREN Zhang Shop. This name is associated with one of the oldest and most prestigious schools of folk art – the art of miniature clay sculptures, which originated in China in the 19th century and was founded by Zhang Mingshan.

These works of art, crafted with remarkable precision and realism, are more than just decorative items. They narrate essential historical events and folk legends.
