An important agreement signed on the development of the microelectronic industry
The Academy of Public Policy and Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a Strategic Workshop Lab, devoted to the elaboration of the Strategy for the development of the microelectronic and semiconductor industry in Uzbekistan for 2026-2035.
The event, organized jointly with the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uzeltechsanoat Association, and Malaysia’s MIMOS Berhad, was attended by local and foreign experts and representatives of international financial organizations.
At the event, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov, Head of the Malaysian delegation, and CEO of MIMOS Holdings Sdn. Bhd. Razman Jaafar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Uzbekistan, Ilham Tuah bin Illias, and others noted that cooperation between the two countries will contribute to the development of high technologies, the formation of the microelectronic industry, and accelerated integration into global value chains.

The semiconductor sector is one of the key drivers of the global economy. For example, in 2025, the global semiconductor market was valued at about $8 billion, with a growth rate of 25.5 percent. According to forecasts, this figure will exceed $1 trillion in 2026, which indicates the expansion of the industry’s capabilities.
To develop research in the industry, introduce advanced technologies, form a national semiconductor system, and train qualified specialists, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in June 2025 between the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uzeltechsanoat Association, and MIMOS Berhad, providing for the development of the semiconductor industry in Uzbekistan.

The two-day workshop discussions covered key areas of development in the electronics and electrical industry, mechanisms to expand cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as issues of industrial policy, existing benefits, and responsibility sharing. It was noted that advances in microelectronics and the semiconductor industry will enable the country to transition to a high-value-added economy.
According to the CEO of MIMOS Holdings Sdn. Bhd. Razman Jaafar, the cooperation between the parties reflects the desire for economic transformation, industrial investment, and increased global competitiveness.

At the event, the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan and MIMOS Holdings Sdn. Bhd. signed a cooperation agreement in semiconductor, electronics, and technology development.
