As part of cooperation between the governments of Uzbekistan and Germany, the Ministry of Ecology, Environment and Climate Change and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) signed agreements on implementing two projects.
The first project, “Policy Dialogue and Knowledge Management on Climate Protection Strategies” (DIAPOL-CE), is being implemented from February 2024 to June 2025. It aims to support partner countries in developing long-term scenarios and strategies to transition to a climate-friendly, sustainable, and environmentally friendly economy. The development of a national strategy for the conservation and sustainable management of wetlands, a concept for the development of eco-tourism, and other work is planned.
The second project, “Green Central Asia. Phase II”, aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation on climate change in Central Asia. Until 2028, meetings and expert support will be organized to update the Action Plan to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change. It is planned to develop a Joint Central Asian Political Declaration, a methodology for assessing the vulnerability of territories and economic sectors exposed to climate change, and a training module on adaptation to climate change considering the gender aspect.
