The First Deputy Chairman of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan Elmurod Najimov addressed the panel discussion “Programming Eco Agendas Across Cultural Institutions” at the COP29 conference in Baku.
He noted that sustainable development is a vital focus of the foundation, which supports environmental awareness in cultural projects to preserve natural and cultural heritage.
For example, he cited the upcoming international Bukhara Biennial, which will open on September 5, 2025. All artworks for this event will be created using local resources to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and support sustainable production. The Biennial will bring together various types of art and become a platform for transferring environmental and cultural values.
Concluding his speech, Mr. Elmurod Najimov emphasized the importance of international cooperation, which helps promote environmental awareness at the global level. According to him, the foundation’s projects, such as the Bukhara Biennial, create a solid foundation for future generations by combining cultural heritage, sustainable development, and creativity.
