Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov has received the new head of UNFPA Office, Yu Yu.

On January 8, 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the new head of UNFPA Office, Yu Yu, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Yu Yu conveyed a letter from the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund Natalia Kanem on his appointment to Uzbekistan.

The Minister congratulated Yu Yu on his appointment and wished him successful work.

The parties confirmed their interest in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and improving the effectiveness of implementation of joint projects aimed at ensuring sustainable development.

It was noted that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to cooperation with the UN and considers it as a universal instrument designed to solve both global security problems and the issues of socio-economic development of countries and regions.

Practical issues related to the census conducted in Uzbekistan with the assistance of UNFPA in 2022 were also considered at the meeting.
