A study of the President’s article “Central Asia on the Threshold of a New Era”

An event was held at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan to explain to the public the essence and significance of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s article “Central Asia on the Threshold of a New Era”, published on the eve of the seventh Consultative Meeting of the leaders of Central Asian countries.

The Deputy Director of the Institute of History for Scientific Affairs, Dilnoza Jamalova, noted the historical importance of this Consultative Meeting and its role in strengthening regional unity, mutual trust, and cooperation in Central Asia. She emphasized that the constructive dialogue emerging among the countries of the region, as well as strategic initiatives aimed at common development and prosperity, are the result of the policy pursued by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“As noted in the article, a new identity is gradually taking shape in Central Asia, one based on a deep understanding of the commonality of our history, culture, and destinies, as well as recognition of our distinctive characteristics”, said Ms. Jamalova. “A sense of belonging to a single regional space is emerging – one where neighborhood is not a threat but an opportunity, and where the success of one side is a shared achievement”.

The event highlighted that issues of regional cooperation, security, the development of intra-regional trade and logistics, foreign policy, the rational use of water resources, and environmental challenges are being addressed jointly. Detailed information was provided on the transformation of the Tashkent Summit and the Regional Dialogue consultations into the Central Asian Community format, as well as on Azerbaijan’s admission to this format.

In addition, within the framework of “Central Asia Plus” cooperation, an exchange of views took place on the strategic significance and essence of the summits “Central Asia – European Union”, “Central Asia – China”, “Central Asia – Russia”, and “Central Asia – United States”.
