
A workshop on “Development and implementation of regional master plans” was held in Shakhrisabz district of Kashkadarya region.
The two-day event, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in cooperation with GIZ, brought together staff from regional and district-level project offices, representatives of local hokimiyats, and international experts.
The workshop focused on studying the experience of Shakhrisabz district, where a project based on a master plan is currently being implemented. Its outcomes are expected to serve as a model for other districts and regions.
On the first day, participants visited the “Salomatlik” pedestrian zone located in Miraki settlement. In this area, entrepreneurs have established trade and service points, hotels, cafés, and guesthouses.
On the second day, a representative of GIZ in Kashkadarya region presented the strategy for the integrated economic development of Shakhrisabz district, outlining its key directions and implementation mechanisms. Participants also got familiar with the activities of the special department established for the development of Shakhrisabz tourist center.
The department’s efforts and proposed initiatives are designed to enhance the investment appeal of the area.
As part of the event, participants also examined projects funded through GIZ grants. In particular, the outcomes of initiatives promoting horticulture, viticulture, and agrotourism across 500 hectares with improved water supply were presented. The new jobs created and the resource-efficient approach being applied in the area contribute to socio-economic stability.
