On August 25, 2023, the Protocol on introducing amendments to the Agreement on Border Crossing by Citizens, concluded between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek city, January 27, 2023) entered into force.

At the same time, it should be noted that the practical use of ID cards for entry, exit, transit, movement, and stay in the territory of the two countries is carried out by mutual agreement from 00:00 on September 1, 2023.

According to the amendments made by the Protocol, the same procedure for a simplified mechanism for crossing the state border is being introduced for citizens of both countries.

In particular, citizens of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan can enter, move, and stay in the territory of the two countries for up to 60 days using an ID card.

Citizens of Uzbekistan can enter, exit, and transit through the territory of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to other states with a biometric passport to travel abroad.

For citizens of the two countries crossing the border, clearance has been established through ID cards at the customs posts “Uzbekistan” (Quvasay), “Fergana” (Fergana district), “Sokh” and “Rishtan”, located on the border of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
