75 regions of Russia cooperate with Uzbekistan, Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, Nikolai Zhuravlev, noted at the INNOPROM Exhibition in Tashkent.
He emphasized that, despite the pandemic, in 2020, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $5.3 billion, and the volume of Russian exports to Uzbekistan increased by almost 20 percent.
As Mr. Nikolai Zhuravlev noted, Russian and international industrial companies are showing great interest in Uzbekistan market, and the EAEU observer status will certainly give a new additional impetus to the development of business relations.

Speaking about the importance of direct ties at the regional level of the two countries, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, the Republic of Tatarstan, Sverdlovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara regions, which are active in interregional cooperation with Uzbekistan, can be cited as examples.
“The intensification of the dialogue in the industrial sphere is especially relevant at a time when the economies of our countries are recovering from the pandemic”, Mr. N. Zhuravlev said. – The pandemic has shown once again that the main means of adapting any country to all sorts of challenges are, first of all, accelerating the scientific and technological process, increasing the share and role of knowledge-intensive industries.

During the main plenary session of the INNOPROM interregional dialogue, the heads of the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia, regional chambers of commerce and industry and companies discussed the current issues of interregional cooperation, presented investment projects, and shared their experience in working with international investors.
