The Fifth National Report of Uzbekistan on implementation of the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment was presented to the participants of the UN Committee Against Torture session.

Reports of Burkina Faso, Cyprus, Portugal, Latvia and the Republic of Niger on implementation of this Convention were also heard at the session.

The issues of the committee members covered a wide range of areas for the protection and promotion of human rights in Uzbekistan and mainly related to the elimination of cruel treatment and punishment. At the session of the UN Committee Against Torture, a lively interactive dialogue on this issue took place between the delegation of Uzbekistan and the committee members.
