Uzbekistan is actively preparing for the upcoming elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and Local Councils.
Under the slogan “My choice is my prosperous Homeland”, several activities are being implemented to improve the population’s legal knowledge of electoral legislation. Election commissions at all levels, political parties, and candidates for deputies are making every effort to hold an important political event in accordance with national legislation and international requirements.
Preparations for the elections are also in full swing at the Tashkent City Territorial Election Commission. According to the data provided by the election commission, 50 electoral districts and 861 polling stations have been established in 12 districts of Tashkent. On average, up to 3,000 voters live at each polling station. By now, with only a few days left before the elections, all polling stations are equipped with the necessary equipment and facilities, that is, they are fully prepared for the polls.
To conduct the electoral process at a high level, three-day educational workshops in step-by-step interactive form were organized for the chairman, deputy chairman, and secretaries of precinct election commissions. This made it possible to enrich the political knowledge and experience of members of precinct election commissions and provide a broader understanding of the electoral process based on the new system.
Electronic voting is another important innovation of this year’s elections. According to the Central Election Commission’s resolution, electronic voting will be organized at 10 polling stations in Tashkent to test and use advanced technologies and create convenience for the population. The necessary equipment has already been installed, and the procedure for electronic voting has been explained to voters.
The work of the Tashkent City Territorial Election Commission in preparation for the elections is carried out in stages in accordance with the calendar plan.
