1 GW data centers to be established in Karakalpakstan

In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, a large-scale project to establish a technology park comprising data centers with a total capacity of 1 GW will be implemented in Nukus district.

The complex will be powered by electricity generated from regional renewable energy sources. 

A new 500/220 kV substation is planned to be constructed, along with an extra 220 kV power transmission line. 

The new infrastructure will connect the data centers to wind power plants with a total capacity of 3.3 GW, without affecting electricity use by the public or economic sectors. 

According to the Ministry of Energy, the first phase of the project is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2027, with the facility expected to reach full capacity in the second half of 2028.
