UZEX: Over 1.7 million transactions concluded in the first nine months of the year
More than 1.7 million transactions were completed on the Uzbek Commodity Exchange (UZEX) trading platforms between January and September 2026. Transaction volume increased by 29% compared with the same period last year. In addition, more than 27,600 new clients joined the exchange’s platforms.
According to Hikmatullo Tillaboyev, Press Secretary of the Uzbek Commodity Exchange JSC, ongoing reforms to improve the exchange’s operations, digitize trading processes, and expand its service range have yielded positive results across its trading platforms.
In particular, more than 1.7 million transactions were executed through the exchange and its electronic trading platforms between January and September 2026. During the same period, more than 27,600 new clients were attracted. Overall, transaction volume across the trading platforms rose 29% compared with the corresponding period last year.
Exchange trading increased by 31%, public procurement by 32%, and exhibition and fair trading by 68%. The volume of foreign trade transactions more than tripled to $646.6 million.
– We are also focusing on improving efficiency in public procurement. Purchases made through the Xarid electronic system have saved 6.8 trillion UZS. The latest version of the platform features improved search and price analysis capabilities, and it introduces artificial intelligence technologies to provide faster responses to users. A centralized procurement mechanism and a dedicated platform for trading pharmaceutical products have also been launched.
Liquefied gas trading also rose. During the reporting period, 312,800 tons of gas were sold on the exchange, a 22.3% increase compared with the same period last year.
We have also expanded the range of electronic services, including those for precious metals trading, electronic auctions of mobile phone numbers, and other areas. Nearly 5,000 mobile phone numbers were sold through electronic auctions. Users can now independently select their mobile operators and list phone numbers for sale electronically.
Another important priority is enabling local entrepreneurs to participate in international futures trading. To this end, we have established UZEX GLOBAL, a joint venture with Singapore-based Phillip Capital.
This initiative will enable domestic market participants to trade commodity futures contracts on major international exchanges, including copper, wheat, cotton, oil, and gold, helping them mitigate risks associated with price fluctuations.
“We will continue to prioritize developing exchange infrastructure, expanding electronic services, introducing digital technologies into trading processes, and strengthening international cooperation”, Mr. Tillaboyev said.
