Uzbekistan delegation participates in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Annual Session
The 33rd Annual Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), themed “International Law and Shared Principles: Foundations for Security and Co-operation in the OSCE Area”, took place in The Hague, Netherlands.
Odiljon Mamatkarimov, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Science, Education, and Health, took part in the session as a representative of Uzbekistan’s Parliament.
At the event, representatives of more than 250 delegations from Europe, North America, and Central Asia discussed current issues related to the development of parliamentary diplomacy, the strengthening of international security, the support for democratic institutions, and the protection of human rights.
Several discussions focused on enhancing international security, preventing conflicts, bolstering democratic institutions, protecting human rights, and improving parliamentary diplomacy. The need to strengthen cooperation in these fields was highlighted.
During the meetings of the Central Asia and Silk Road Group, members of the Uzbekistan delegation presented on current reforms under the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy, enhancements in parliamentary work, and ongoing changes in education, healthcare, and the social sector.
The Uzbekistan Parliament delegation also engaged in productive discussions with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Secretary General, the Special Representative for Central Asia, and the Head of the Netherlands delegation.
