Uzbekistan and the United Nations strengthen cooperation to protect critical infrastructure
A three-day series of in-depth national consultations on protecting vulnerable targets and critical infrastructure from terrorist threats kicked off on October 14, 2026, at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The consultations are being held under the 2026-2027 Roadmap for Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT). The event is organized by UNOCT in partnership with the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State Security Service, and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The consultations bring together representatives of law enforcement agencies, relevant ministries and government bodies, and specialists from strategically important enterprises. Experts from UNOCT and the United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) are leading the sessions. They will present international best practices in protecting critical facilities.
Discussions will cover operational and technical measures to protect facilities, prevent terrorist attacks and strengthen the preparedness of the responsible authorities to respond.
The consultations will result in practical recommendations to improve existing protection mechanisms, taking into account national needs.
