Reforms implemented in Uzbekistan are highly praised in Europe
A meeting of the Uzbekistan – European Union Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was held in Brussels.
The delegation from Uzbekistan participating in the meeting, led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodiq Safoyev, discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for its further development.

The European side highly praised the reforms underway in Uzbekistan and confirmed its readiness to develop cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to issues related to expanding and deepening trade and economic partnership. It was noted that favorable conditions have been created in the country to attract European investment, develop joint venture activities, and introduce high-tech production.

The importance of strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, industrial cooperation, the production of critical materials, transport, energy, agriculture, and the green and digital economy, as well as of intensifying scientific, educational, and cultural exchanges, was emphasized.
Special emphasis was placed on cooperation in the field of human rights, support for civil society, and ensuring gender equality.

A roundtable on “Reforms and Cooperation: A New Agenda for Uzbekistan and the European Union” was also held at the European Parliament.
The event was attended by the European Parliament’s Permanent Rapporteur on Uzbekistan Ilhan Kyuchyuk, members of parliament, and representatives of EU institutions, analytical centres, and the media.
Members of the delegation spoke about the results of reforms implemented under the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy, including democratic transformations, economic liberalization, strengthening the human rights protection system, and improving the investment climate.
Priority areas for an open, pragmatic foreign policy aimed at strengthening regional cooperation were outlined.
