New migration agreement
Relations between Uzbekistan and Sweden in the field of migration have reached a qualitatively new level.
Uzbekistan and Sweden have signed an intergovernmental agreement on migration and mobility, as well as a joint declaration on the implementation of a pilot program in this area.
The documents provide for the joint training of qualified technical specialists and professionals in healthcare, services, and care work, tailored to the specific needs of the Swedish labor market. To this end, the parties will develop a clear framework for interaction between job seekers and employers.
In addition, plans are in place to expand academic exchange programs for students, doctoral candidates, and young researchers, as well as to introduce additional measures to protect the rights of migrants and their family members.
The documents also regulate the simplification of visa procedures, including the introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for holders of diplomatic passports. At the same time, the parties will step up joint efforts to combat illegal migration, human trafficking, and document forgery.
The implementation of the pilot project, with the participation of the International Organization for Migration, will enable a detailed analysis of the Swedish labor market and the organization of Swedish-language and vocational training courses for citizens.
The signed agreement aims to strengthen friendly ties between the two countries and to create conditions for safe and legal travel.
