Key cooperation issues under discussion
The Termez International Trade Center, a free trade zone established in Surkhandarya region, hosted sessions of the international conference: “Uzbekistan – Russia: Strategic Partnership in the Eurasian Space”.
The participants heard reports on “The space for joint development: Investment, industrial cooperation and digitalization”, “Connecting North and South: Transport, logistics and infrastructure”, and made recommendations. It was emphasized that developing industrial cooperation and organizing investment activities are key conditions for joint growth, based on the creation of an open, sustainable, and mutually beneficial economic space. Russia and Uzbekistan have great potential to strengthen cooperation and mutual investment support, and together they identify priority areas for practical economic cooperation. Recently, both countries have achieved tangible results in this area: expanding promising sectors of cooperation and increasing investment volumes.
Discussions covered mechanisms for mutual support and protection of investments, building production chains, and digitalization and automation of the service sector with artificial intelligence technologies. Participants exchanged views on creating a common development space. They analyzed progress in industrial cooperation, investment, and innovation. Special focus was placed on developing direct contacts between companies in both countries, identifying key areas for cooperation, and seeking new growth opportunities. It was also highlighted that establishing a modern transportation system based on advanced technological solutions is a strategic priority for Russia and Uzbekistan. This includes improving the efficiency of transport and logistics, developing cross-border corridors, forming trade and industrial clusters, and implementing information and communication technologies.
The upcoming tasks related not only to developing the international trade infrastructure in Central Eurasia but also to improving the management of economic processes and creating a shared development space were discussed in detail.
