Innovative space for training a new generation of engineers
As part of his visit to Almazar district, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also reviewed the activities of ToshTech Technical University.
Founded following the Presidential Resolution of September 8, 2025, the university marks a significant advancement in transforming higher engineering education. The project’s total cost amounts to 69.5 billion UZS.
Using these funds, the seven-story academic building at Tashkent State Technical University was fully renovated and equipped with modern laboratories and educational equipment.
The university is a state higher education institution with academic, financial, organizational, and managerial autonomy. Under the approved program, the relevant faculties and departments of Tashkent State Technical University will be gradually transformed into this new, innovative ecosystem by 2030.
The new university has attracted strong interest among young people. A total of 1,654 applicants submitted applications for the 2026/2027 academic year. Of these, 400 of the most capable and talented young men and women were selected and admitted. All students in the first intake are studying on full state-funded scholarships. This benefit will continue, with the grant also covering students admitted through the 2029/2030 academic year.
The educational process at the university is conducted entirely in English. Local academics and highly qualified international specialists teach the classes.
Students are enrolled in four fields of study: industrial engineering and management, electrical engineering, energy engineering, and materials science and nanotechnology.
ToshTech is integrated with internationally recognized educational institutions and brands. The university was established in close cooperation with leading universities worldwide, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), and Bremen University of Applied Sciences(Germany), as well as the globally renowned Boston Consulting Group.
The university’s main goal is to move away from purely theoretical instruction and, from the early years of study, train students to work on real industrial projects and solve complex engineering challenges. To this end, the university has established close cooperation with leading domestic and international industrial companies, enabling students to undertake practical training while still studying and to subsequently secure guaranteed employment. These partners include major companies such as ACWA Power, UzAuto Motors, Thermal Power Plants JSC, and Regional Electric Power Networks JSC.
The Head of State was briefed on the university’s plans.
During a conversation with faculty members and students, it was noted that ToshTech Technical University should become an innovative platform for training a new generation of engineers capable of elevating the country’s industrial potential.
“Once again, I would like to emphasize that a person’s property, social status, and other material possessions are temporary, but no one and no force can take away the knowledge and experience they have acquired. Knowledge is the most reliable and valuable investment a person can make”, the President said.
