How many people have emigrated from Uzbekistan for permanent residence?
Emigration for permanent residence is a key component of population migration in Uzbekistan.
The latest data from the National Statistics Committee reveals which countries and regions saw the most citizens emigrate from the country for permanent residence in the first six months of 2026.
In January–June of this year, 5,422 citizens emigrated from Uzbekistan to foreign countries for permanent residence.
This figure represents a decrease of 129 people, or 2.3%, compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
The primary destination for those who moved abroad for permanent residence was the Republic of Kazakhstan. Specifically, 83% of emigrants went to Kazakhstan, and 14.1% to the Russian Federation.
Additionally, 0.8% of emigrants went to the Republic of Korea, 0.6% to the Kyrgyz Republic, and the remaining 1.5% to other countries.
By region, the largest number of citizens emigrated from the Republic of Karakalpakstan (1,899), Tashkent region (1,431), and Navoi region (1,203).
Furthermore, 492 citizens from the city of Tashkent, 79 from Khorezm region, 59 from Bukhara region, 50 from Jizzakh region, and 48 from Samarkand region moved abroad for permanent residence.
The lowest number was recorded in Surkhandarya region, from which 9 citizens moved abroad for permanent residence.
Overall, the number of people who emigrated from Uzbekistan for permanent residence in the first six months of 2026 decreased slightly compared to the same period last year.
