French Culture Days held in Bukhara
French Culture Days were held in Bukhara. A highlight of the city’s cultural life was a concert by renowned French pianist Christine Fonlupt at Poi Kalon Square, which is home to Bukhara’s unique architectural ensembles.
The event was attended by Bukhara Region Hokim Botir Zaripov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Uzbekistan Walid Fouque, cultural and art figures, foreign guests, members of the creative community, journalists, and Bukhara residents.

Speaking at the event’s opening, the governor noted that every melody heard in the square is not only a work of art but also a unique means of communication that connects different eras and cultures.

Another notable cultural event during French Culture Days was the opening of the art exhibition “Provence and Impressionism in the Light” at a historic palace. The exhibition captures the distinctive natural beauty of the Provence region in southern France, including its sunlit landscapes, harmonious colors, and the subtle moods characteristic of Impressionism.

Through her artistic explorations, the exhibition’s creator, Diana Khamzina, seeks to capture the light of Provence, the region’s nature, colors, fleeting moments, and human emotions. In Bukhara, however, the presentation took on an added meaning: Provence’s sunlit landscapes and Bukhara’s golden walls, the light of French Impressionism and the Oriental beauty of Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa, came together in one space. More than an exhibition, it felt like a dialogue between two distinct worlds of light.

Speaking at the events, Ambassador Walid Fouque noted that friendly relations between Uzbekistan and France continue to grow steadily. He emphasized that cultural and artistic ties are bringing the two peoples closer and creating broad opportunities for them to share their countries’ rich historical and spiritual heritage.
The participation of artists and cultural figures, members of the creative community, tourists, the general public, and art enthusiasts in the French Culture Days events also reflects strong interest in the initiative.
The French culture exhibition in Bukhara will run through October 31 this year. The program includes exhibitions showcasing various forms of French art and culture, concerts, dance performances, and film screenings.
