Focus on the scientific heritage of Islamic civilization
Tashkent hosted an international conference “The scientific heritage of Islamic civilization: sources, current issues, and potential”, organized by the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.
The conference brought together representatives of government bodies, heads of higher education institutions and research centers, leading scholars and experts, representatives of spiritual and educational circles, as well as young specialists and students from various countries around the world.
A highlight of the program was the official address by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen Consort of Malaysia.
In addition, the conference included plenary sessions, thematic scientific presentations, three sectional sessions, expert meetings, and bilateral negotiations.
The signing and exchange of memoranda of cooperation took place between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, as well as with several of the country’s leading scientific, educational, and research institutions, including the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Imam Maturidi International Scientific Research Center, the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, and the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
In addition, the Malaysian side proposed donating 20,000 copies of the Holy Quran, published by the Nasyrul Quran Complex, to the “Waqf” Public Charitable Foundation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As part of the event, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan will present to Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah a book-album prepared jointly with the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, from the series “Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections” – “The Collection of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia”.
During the conference, modern approaches to the study of Islamic scientific heritage and the objective assessment of Muslim scholars’ contributions to world civilization were discussed.
