European experience supports the development of household farming
An international practical seminar was held in Yangiyul district to promote efficient use of household plots, enhance the economic potential of dehkan farms, and foster agricultural cooperation.
The event was organized by the Tashkent Region Hokimiyat, the regional department for poverty reduction and employment, and the relevant territorial organizations as part of the project “Strengthening the economic potential and efficiency of household plots and dehkan farms in Uzbekistan”, implemented with financial support from the European Union.
Participants learned best practices from European countries. At the Yangiyo‘l Agro Star greenhouse complex, they examined how to build a value chain that includes cultivation, storage, processing, and delivery of products to international markets. They also explored the development of cooperation and the implementation of agricultural technologies.
Members of the Latvian delegation explored how modern greenhouses operate in Bunyodkor mahalla and examined the progress of floriculture in Darkhon mahalla. Over 18 hectares, more than 100 flower varieties are cultivated, producing income of up to 380 million UZS per hectare. This underscores the potential to transform household farming into a lucrative source of income.
