Comfortable high-speed rail service launched between Tashkent and Khiva
The high-speed electric train “Jaloliddin Manguberdi”, which departed on its inaugural journey from the Central Railway Station in Tashkent, has arrived in Khiva.
Previously, passengers needed at least 14 hours and considerable patience to travel 1,022 kilometers by rail from Tashkent to Khiva. The modern, comfortable train manufactured by the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem covers this distance in just 7.5 hours.
The seven-car train is designed to accommodate 389 passengers. According to available information, most passengers on the inaugural journey were foreign tourists. This suggests that the launch of this route is another step toward developing the country’s tourism infrastructure.
This train is a modern mode of transportation fully adapted to Uzbekistan’s climatic conditions. It can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to +50 degrees Celsius.
The train has become the first of six trainsets purchased at the Head of State’s initiative. At the same time, new railway lines were constructed, and large-scale electrification was carried out.
Starting in 2027, it is planned to extend the route of the high-speed trains to Nukus.
Residents of the country and foreign tourists can now travel on this train from Tashkent to Khiva on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and from Khiva to Tashkent on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
