80th anniversary of India’s independence celebrated in Tashkent
The Embassy of India in Uzbekistan hosted a solemn flag-raising ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of India’s independence.
Indian citizens, students, public representatives, and media attended the event.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Smita Pant welcomed the participants and read the President’s address to the nation on Independence Day.
– I sincerely thank everyone for participating in today’s significant event. In Uzbekistan, India’s strategic partner, we genuinely sense the spirit of independence.
The importance of joint efforts to achieve progress and improve people’s well-being was emphasized.
– I would also like to note that relations between India and Uzbekistan are particularly warm and sincere. Today, our Uzbek friends presented their creative performances. They performed the Andijan Polka, demonstrating a harmonious blend of national traditions and modern elements. These performances once again showed how close our peoples are to one another, – S. Pant said.
The program included performances by the Lal Bahadur Shastri Indian Cultural Centre ensemble, along with an award ceremony honoring the top five participants in the “Bharat ko Janiye” quiz. It also featured a visual arts master class and showcased the best entries from the “Viksit Bharat” competition.
