Uzbekistan’s anti-corruption efforts are highly praised
During the 11th CIS Interstate Council meeting on Combating Corruption in Minsk, Uzbekistan’s Anti-Corruption Agency Director Akmal Burkhanov met with leaders of prosecution authorities from member states.
The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation to prevent and combat corruption, expanding the exchange of experience, and turning existing agreements into concrete actions.
At a meeting with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, Dmitry Gora, the parties agreed to exchange experience and expand cooperation in areas such as conducting anti-corruption reviews of regulatory legal acts and their drafts, using digital solutions, improving internal control mechanisms, and protecting persons who report corruption.
Following the talks with the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Aleksandr Gutsan, the Agency and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation signed a Cooperation Program for 2027-2038. The document covers priority areas such as anti-corruption review, improving interagency cooperation and coordination mechanisms, personnel development, fostering an anti-corruption culture among young people, and joint implementation of international initiatives and projects.
During the meetings, the reforms underway in Uzbekistan to prevent and combat corruption received high praise. The foreign partners, noting Uzbekistan’s increasingly active role in shaping the international anti-corruption agenda, expressed their readiness to consistently develop relations grounded in mutual trust and practical cooperation.
