Uzbekistan-IFAD: New projects and opportunities
During the 30th Session of the FAO Committee on Agriculture (COAG 30), the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov met with the Vice President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Gerardine Mukeshimana at the Headquarters of FAO.
Practical aspects of the $44 million ASPIR agrobusiness support project were discussed. The preparation of new projects within the framework of cooperation with IFAD was proposed. In particular, IFAD supported the initiative to scale up the Drone Academy experience established in the country. The parties expressed their readiness to develop a project concept as soon as possible and to begin practical implementation.

The meeting covered Uzbekistan’s participation in the upcoming 50th anniversary session of the IFAD Board of Governors in February 2027. The IFAD Vice President invited Uzbekistan to attend, highlighting the significance of the country’s role in enhancing international cooperation.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to accelerate joint projects, launch new initiatives and continue the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and IFAD.
